Sooryavanshi Movie Review: Rohit Shetty’s Action-Drama Will Take You to the Horrors of Mumbai Attacks

Rohit Shetty has opted for a patriotic theme this time but did not sacrifice his love for physics-defying action scenes. You will see Akshay swinging on the helicopter, cars flying in the sky, and epic entries.

Talking about the story of Sooryavanshi, it is based on terror attacks on Mumbai. It brings all that happened in past and unfolds what worse could have happened in present. The script revolves around the sleeping cells of Lashkar who are the target of the anti-terrorism squad. They are planning for something big and worse than before.

Akshay Kumar as Soorya with his squad hunts for the terrorists in the first half, all alone. Ranveer and Ajay arrive in the last 30 minutes of the film. Boys have done their part pretty well and the audience loved it.

On the other hand, Katrina Kaif who is playing the role of Soorya’s wife marked her presence too. Most of the emotional scenes come from her side that pulls back Akki from the hardcore officer to keep a balance between family and duties. Her performance in Tip Tip stole all the limelight.

But there will come a moment you will feel the movie is an old plot wrapped in fresh dialogues and actors, Rohit Shetty brought the twist. Jackie Shroff comes out as the mastermind and leader of a terrorist group.

This is when some serious play happens. Rohit Shetty tried to portrait each side whether its challenge for the anti-terrorism squad, emotions of a mother, pain of victims, and questions over patriotism in Muslims.

Overall, Sooryavanshi is a worth-watching movie, especially in theatre. The songs and music will keep playing in your head in a loop.
