The all-new Skoda Elroq is the first all-electric model in the Czech brand's compact SUV category globally. It is also the first model to adopt Skoda's new Modern Solid design language and offers a range of over 560 km on a single charge. Its extensive standard equipment list includes a rearview camera, Crew Protect Assist, Side Assist, 13-inch infotainment and SmartLink.

Skoda Elroq Exterior Design

The Modern Solid design language was first previewed in the Vision 7S concept in 2022, and the most defining element of the design is what Skoda calls the 'Tech-Deck Face'. The familiar Skoda butterfly grille has been removed, and in its place is a new black panel that spans the width of the face and features four segmented LED Daytime Running Lamp elements on both sides.

The main headlamps are located on the bumper, and the vertical air vents that drop down from the headlamp cluster are a neat design touch. The front bumper also features thick plastic cladding, a faux silver skid plate and even active cooling vents that automatically close to reduce wind resistance.

The Skoda Elroq's profile, in typical Skoda fashion, features clean lines and smooth surfaces, a large glass house and stylish multi-spoke wheels. At the rear, it looks like a shrunken Enyaq with similar-sized tail lamps and 'Skoda' lettering on the tailgate and a robust-looking dual-tone bumper below. Skoda claims that the Skoda Elroq's clean surfaces have helped it achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.26.

The Skoda Elroq is also the first model that does completely without the traditional Skoda logo. Instead, it has 'Skoda' written on the bonnet, tailgate and even on the steering wheel on the inside.

Skoda Elroq's Interior and Features

Inside, the Elroq is inspired by the larger Enyaq with a winged design for the dashboard. It also uses a 13-inch central infotainment screen, below which are the AC vents followed by a host of physical buttons that act as shortcuts to features like driver assistance systems, drive modes, climate control and other functions. Then there is the aforementioned new steering wheel and a sleek digital instrument cluster right behind it.

The centre console is also similar to the Enyaq with a lever for the drive selector and a couple of cupholders. Being a born EV, it gets several smart in-cabin storage compartments that offer up to 48 litres of space; its boot capacity is 470 litres. Interestingly, the Elroq focuses on the use of sustainable materials for many of the interior trims, such as upholstery made from recycled PET bottles, nylon derived from fishing nets and even recycled polyester.

Skoda Elroq Powertrain and Range

Skoda Elroq

The SkodaElroq is backed by the Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture, which is also used by the Audi Q4 and Volkswagen ID 3, among others. Here it is measured at 4.49 metres long, making it slightly larger than the ICE-powered Karoq (4.39 metres long), but significantly smaller than the Enyaq (4.65 metres).

There are three battery and powertrain options available right now, labelled 50, 60 and 85. The entry-level 50 has a 52kWh battery pack and a 170hp rear-mounted motor, giving a claimed range of over 370km on the WLTP cycle.

The 60 version is boosted to 59kWh and 204hp, and gives a range of over 385km, while the range-topping 85 version has a significantly larger 77kWh battery and 285hp, giving a range of over 560km per charge. Skoda claims 0-100kph comes in 6.6 seconds (85 version) and has a top speed of 180kph.

Both the 50 and 60 can be charged at up to 145kW, which does 10-80 per cent in 25 minutes, and the larger 85 pack can take 175kW, completing the same recharge in 28 minutes. The 85 variant can also be bought as an AWD with an additional motor on the front axle, though this will be made available only in 2025.

Skoda Elroq India Launch Details

Skoda Elroq

As already reported, Skoda India is considering bringing the Elroc here, and if launched, it will compete with the Tata Curve EV, the upcoming Hyundai CretaEV, and the Maruti EVX. Skoda says it has achieved price parity for the Elroq with the ICE-powered Karoq in Europe, and if it is localised in India, it could be offered competitively here as well. Before that, Skoda will bring the flagship Enyaq iV as a full import, and is also working on the new Kylaq compact SUV.
