Indian team's star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has broken Adam Gilchrist's big record in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pant created new history by taking three catches in the Super-8 match against Afghanistan. Pant has become the first wicketkeeper to take the most catches in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
Rishabh Pant created history in the Super-8 match against Afghanistan. Pant left behind legendary wicketkeepers like Adam Gilchrist, AB de Villiers and Kumar Sangakkara in one stroke. Rishabh Pant took a total of three catches in the match against Afghanistan. In the current T20 World Cup, Rishabh Pant has so far caught 10 batsmen in 4 matches. This is the highest number of wickets taken by any wicketkeeper in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Apart from Gilchrist, South African wicketkeeper and captain AB de Villiers and former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara took 9 catches each in an edition of the T20 World Cup. Rishabh Pant has left everyone behind and secured the first position.

He scored an unbeaten 36* (26) against Ireland in the first match and then scored 42 (21) against Pakistan. He shifted the momentum towards India by scoring 20 runs in 11 balls against Afghanistan.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Team India scored 181 runs on the board on the basis of Suryakumar Yadav's half-century.
