After Monday’s IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the two captains, Pat Cummins and Hardik Pandya, and MI batter Suryakumar Yadav were seen chatting. A glimpse of that conversation suggested that the trio were discussing how the SRH skipper had lost his middle finger as a result of a mishap involving his sister.

In the video that became a web sensation via online entertainment after Mumbai’s seven-wicket win against SRH, Hardik is seen approaching Cummins, who was visiting with Suryakumar, who just crushed a game-dominating 102 not out and pointing towards his center finger. The Australian commander is then seen reviewing the episode which left both Hardik and Suryakumar stunned.

Pat Cummins Told His Story

It was a story Pat Cummins had uncovered back in 2011 in a meeting with cricket.com.au, not long from now before his presentation in South Africa. The episode happened when he was three or four years of age when his hand got banged by an entryway, and because of it, he lost the highest point of his finger.

“I lost the highest point of my finger when I was around three or four (years of age),” he had said. ” It got rammed in an entryway and I lost about a centimeter off the highest point of my finger. It doesn’t influence me because (the finger) is about a similar length as the other one (pointer).”

Discussing the match, the success assisted Mumbai with remaining alive in the rush to the IPL 2024 end-of-the-season games, yet with a grim opportunity. They procured their fourth win in the season, which lifted them to the 10th spot in the focuses table. Meanwhile, SRH is fourth in the table with three teams tied on 12 points from 11 games: CSK, LSG, and SRH.
