According to his spokesperson, Ranveer filed a police complaint and FIR for further investigation by the cyber crime cell. Ranveer’s spokesperson said, “Yes, we have filed a police complaint and an FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh.” In the deepfake video, the actor can be heard allegedly expressing his political views. While the video, which is from the actor’s recent trip to Varanasi, appears to be genuine, the audio is of Ranveer’s AI-synthesized voice clone.
How did it all start
The actor recently turned showstopper at an open-air fashion show on the banks of Ganga in Varanasi. The show was organized by fashion designer Manish Malhotra. During his visit to the city, Ranveer opened up about the changes that have happened in terms of public infrastructure and also shared his ‘divine’ experience of the city.
How Ranveer reacted after his deep fake video went viral
Later, when the deepfake video surfaced on the social media platform, Ranveer Singh shared a post on his Instagram Stories in which he wrote, “Deepfake se bachho friends (Friends, beware of deepfakes).” Although there was nothing about this post in the clip going viral on social media, it was apparently in response to his deepfake video.

Fans will see Ranveer reprising the role of Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s police drama Singham Again, which also stars Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff. Ranveer will also play the lead role in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, which will release in 2025.
