Ram Navami at Ayodhya temple: The much-awaited ‘Surya Abhishek’ of Ram Lala will take place around 12:15 pm, with the celestial event lasting for four minutes. On the occasion of Ram Navami celebrations, on the morning of Wednesday, April 17, thousands of devotees gathered at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Sharad Sharma said that the celebration of Ram Navami at the Ram temple in Ayodhya has been eagerly awaited for 500 years and the entire country is very happy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted people on the occasion of Ram Navami and said Ayodhya is in incomparable joy as it is the first time after the consecration of the Ram temple that the festival will be celebrated there.
The much-awaited ‘Surya Abhishek’ of Ram Lala will take place around 12:15 pm, this astronomical event will last for four minutes. During this period, the sun’s rays will form a 75 mm ’tilak’ on the forehead of Ram Lalla.

- Before visiting the Ram temple, devotees took a dip in the holy waters of the Saryu river in Ayodhya. As soon as night fell, there was a rush of devotees at the ghats. Darshan started at Ram temple at 3:30 in the morning.
- This will be the first Ram Navami after the consecration of the Ram idol in the new temple inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22.
- Anil Mishra, member of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said that devotees will be allowed inside the Ram temple during Surya Tilak. Around 100 LEDs are being installed by the temple trust and 50 by the government, which will illuminate the Ram Navami celebrations. People will be able to watch the ceremony from wherever they are.
- Regarding security arrangements, IG (Ayodhya Range) Praveen Kumar said that arrangements have been made for the devotees. “All areas have been divided into zones and sectors. Our volunteers and force multipliers have been deployed. Arrangements have also been made for movement of heavy vehicles,” the IG told news agency ANI.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said that scientists of Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee have calculated the timing of Surya Tilak based on the movement of the Sun. “The ‘Surya Abhishek’ of Ram Lalla will be performed using an optomechanical system with high-quality mirrors and lenses,” the trust said. - To ensure the success of ‘Surya Abhishek’, CBRI experts are currently camping in Ayodhya.
During his visit to Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebrations on October 23, 2022, PM Narendra Modi suggested to the trust members that the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple should be constructed in such a way that the sun’s rays fall directly on the idol of Ram Lala. Navami, similar to the incident at Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. - To protect the devotees from the sun, a permanent canopy has been installed on the Janmabhoomi Path, while a temporary canopy has also been installed on the Bhakti Path. Apart from this, the Ayodhya administration has set up help booths at 29 places in the mela area from Tedhi Bazaar to Naya Ghat.
- The Trust has also extended the darshan period to 19 hours, which will start from Mangala Aarti and continue till 11 pm. The curtain will remain closed only for five minutes during the offering of Char Bhog.
