Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: ₹3,200 Crore Crop Insurance Claims Released

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will digitally transfer crop insurance claim amount of Rs 3,200 crore to 30 lakh farmer beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana on Monday. The PMFBY claim amount will be transferred during a program organized in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Apart from Chouhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Chaudhary and State Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena will attend the program.

₹3,200 Crore Released Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

According to an official statement, out of the total claim amount, Rs 1156 crore will be given to the farmers of Madhya Pradesh, Rs 1121 crore to the farmers of Rajasthan and Rs 150 crore to the farmers of Chhattisgarh. Also, Rs 773 crore will be transferred to farmers of other states.

New Rules for PMFBY Claim Settlement from Kharif 2025

The Agriculture Minister said that the Center has implemented a new simplified claim settlement system in the interest of farmers, under which claims will be paid proportionately based only on central subsidy, without waiting for the state's premium contribution.

He said in the statement, "From the Kharif 2025 session, if a state government delays its subsidy contribution, it will be fined 12 percent, and similarly if insurance companies delay payment, they will also be fined 12 percent. "

When was the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana started

Since the launch of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in 2016, claims worth Rs 1.83 lakh crore have been settled under it. Also, farmers have paid a premium of only Rs 35,864 crore.
