Philippines Poking Fire Over Taiwan’s Independence: China Agent

The Philippines is poking a fire of territorial disputes between states by providing an enlarged military base approach to the US, whose target is to get in the way of China’s affairs with Taiwan, Beijing’s ambassador to Manila revealed on Friday. 

The Philippines, at the start of April 2023, recognized four extra bases that Washington can use under a prolonged Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), the regions of which are crucial. 

The area is comprised of three facing north towards Taiwan and one close to the quarreled Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

“Facts are more important as compared to words. Undoubtedly, the United States has the intention to get benefited from the new EDCA sites to hinder in the condition over the Taiwan Strait.

This is clearly to provide its geopolitical aims and benefit its anti-China propaganda at the amount of peace, and advancement of the Philippines and the area at large,” the ambassador of China, HuangXilian revealed to a forum. 

The U.S. embassy set up in Manila revealed that the EDCA “is not about any other third nation.”

“EDCA sites will back be amalgamated training exercises and interaction between the United States and Philippine pressurizes to make sure that we are much better ready for any crisis coming up in the future, ” the spokesperson, Kanishka Gangopadhyay revealed in a phone message. 

The foreign ministry of the Philippines did not swiftly replied to requests for comment.

EDCA, signed in 2014, highlights the strategic significance of the Philippines to its ex-colonial ruler the US, going at a time of worry regarding China’s behavior in the South China Sea and tension in self-ruled Taiwan

The EDCA permits the United States access to the Philippine base for combined training, pre-placing of tools, and making of facilities.

But it is not a complete and evergreen presence and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has made sure China the bases will not be utilized in any offensive conduct.

At the same time, Huang targeted the Philippines over the United States pact and said it must be aware of various overseas Filipino workers, or OFWs, who are placed close by to Taiwan.

“It is suggested to the Philippines to clearly obstruct ‘Taiwan independence’ instead of poking the fire by providing the United States approach to the military bases closeby to the Taiwan Strait if you really care about the 150,000 OFWs, “ Huang revealed.

He further went on to state that “he will not reject the utilization of force and reserves, the option of taking all required measures” to protect against external interference and all separatist activities in Taiwan thing.
