Why Did Maneesh Sethi Hire An EmployeeTo Slap Him?
Maneesh employed Kara as a part of his experiment to increase his productivity and save time. His job advertisement said, “When I am wasting time, you’ll have to yell at me or if need be, slap me.”
His slapping experiment got huge attention in 2012 and resulted in a 98% increase in his productivity. He explained this idea on a blog of Hack The System that talks about unconventional methods.
Maneesh said the majority of his time was unproductive and he was curious to know where his time went. He used an app called RescumeTime to identify where all his hours went wasted.
Facebook and Reddit was the answer. So he came up with the idea and hired Kara. As a result, not only his productivity but also the quality of work improved.
