Pakistan Sports Minister Ehsaan Mazari has issued a strong warning to India. Mazari has stated that, if India chooses not to participate in the Asia Cup to be held there, his country will retaliate by withdrawing from the 2023 World Cup in India.
As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) falls under his ministry, Mazari has expressed his personal opinion in an exclusive interview with The Indian Express.
He has guaranteed that, assuming India demands to play their Asia Cup matches in an impartial setting, He will request something similar for their Reality Cup matches in India.
Pakistan Says Indian Government Is Politicizing Sports
This assertion comes because of the development of a high-profile board of trustees by State leader Shehbaz Sharif, entrusted with looking at the country’s support in the impending Scene Cup facilitated by India. Mazari expressed his confusion regarding India’s reluctance to play cricket in here, accusing the Indian government of politicizing sports.
Pakistan And Sri Lanka Will Jointly Host The Event
Although the exact schedule for the Asia Cup has not yet been announced, it is believed that Pakistan and Sri Lanka will jointly host the event. Reports propose that India might play all their matches in Sri Lanka, an idea that Mazari goes against, stating there, all in all, correct to have all the matches on its dirt.
Mazari Talked About Security Concerns Of World Cup
Mazari dismissed security concerns as unfounded, pointing out that the cricket teams England and New Zealand recently visited there and were accompanied by presidential-level security. He also talked about how the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which had a lot of foreign players, was a success.
