Sanjay Chouhan, the creator of Paan Singh Tomar, passed away at the age of 62 from liver cirrhosis complications.

Avinas Das, Sanjay’s friend and filmmaker, posted a tribute on Facebook in remembrance of him. He recalled the 62-year-old writer’s mentorship and humorous personality, and expressed sadness at his passing. Das also noted that Chouhan had been in poor health for the last two weeks.

The writer, who was born and raised in Bhopal, had his start in Delhi after graduating from JNU, where he pursued a career as a journalist. About 10 days ago, he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai due to internal bleeding, loss of consciousness, and liver cirrhosis. In the late 1990s, he moved to Mumbai and wrote the crime TV series Bhanwar for Sony TV.
Chouhan’s funeral service will take place today at 12.30 pm at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai. His wife Sarita and daughter are left to mourn his passing
