The 95th edition of the Academy Awards was held on 12th March 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The Oscar Award is counted among the grandest ceremonies in the Hollywood film industry.

As of 2022, Indian- American short documentary filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves made “The Elephant Whisperers” which was her first directorial debut film. The film showcases the relationship between a couple and Raghu, an orphaned baby elephant who is like their own child.

A documentary film festival in the United States, DOC NYC had its premiere of the Sikhya Entertainment produced a movie on 9th November 2022.
Also, the movie is easily accessible on the OTT platform Netflix and it is globally streaming since December 8, 2022. It also won the Best Documentary Short Film Oscar in 2023.

Bhanu Athaiya

In 1983, Bhanu Athaiya won the Oscars in the category of “Best Costume Design” for her movie Gandhi. She collaborated with Indian directors such as Guru Dutt, Yash Chopra, B.R Chopra, Raj Kapoor, Vijay Anand, etc. As she has worked in more than 90 movies. She has also contributed to international projects with filmmakers Conard Rooks (Siddhartha 1972) and Richard Attenborough (Gandhi 1982).
