Startup Day was discovered by the Government of India as an initiative from the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DPIIT). The main agenda of the program is to boost startups and make them develop striving industries in the country.
National Startup Day: Origin
National Startup Day was commenced by PM Narendra Modi and the country begins to celebrate the day in 2022. However, the scheme was launched back in 2016. This year, Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DPIIT) has organized a weeklong event from 10th January to 16th January. During the event, Industry Focused Webinars will be conducted to encourage new ideas and motives that will help them join the startup ecosystem.

Under this scheme, companies with an age of fewer than 10 years and an annual turnover of Rs. 100 crore are considered. Indian government launched two schemes under the initiative:
- I-MADE Program: it will help build 10 lakh mobile app start-ups.
- MUDRA’s Bank ((Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana): The scheme will provide low-interest loans and micro-finance to entrepreneurs developing new brands.
The initial capital of Rs. 20,000 crores has been allocated for the scheme. National Startup Day is celebrated on January 16. During the first National Startup Day, PM Modi awarded 48 startups consisting of 4 startups from Pune, Maharashtra.
