MS Dhoni’s Wonderful Knocks

91* vs Sri Lanka (ODI WC Final 2011)

After Virat Kohli was excused for 35, MS Dhoni strolled onto the pitch. He handled Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan with skill and formed an important partnership with Gautam Gambhir, which gave India a chance to win.

Dhoni then made a stunning six against Nuwan Kulasekara to win the World Cup and put an end to India’s 28-year wait for the trophy. His magnificent, unbeaten 91-run innings from just 79 balls earned him the Player of the Match award in the final. The Indian captain’s heroics shined when they were most needed.

MS Dhoni accomplished his most elevated ODI score, a great 183 not out off 145 balls, only a half year after his lady century. Sri Lanka set a challenging target with a robust total of 298 runs in the third match of a 7-game series, thanks to centuries from Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. India had already taken a 2-0 lead in the series.

224 vs Australia (2013)

MS Dhoni scored a sensational double-century in the first Test match of the four-match series against Australia in Chennai. He saved India from a difficult position of 196/4 in response to Australia’s total of 380. Dhoni formed a crucial 128-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the fifth wicket, stabilizing the Indian innings against the formidable Australian bowling attack.

113* vs Pakistan (2012)

MS Dhoni's Century Drought Outside Asia

Dhoni showed surprising versatility and self-restraint as he independently saved India from a terrible beginning. Batting first in the wake of losing the throw, India was in hot water at 29/5. Dhoni took charge because he sensed the urgency and planned a brilliant comeback. He worked with the lower order to make sure India batted for the full 50 overs, teaching them how to bat under pressure.
