On Friday, Facebook parent Meta made a change to the way it currently handles postings from popular Instagram or Facebook users, such as celebrities and public figures.
The company will be putting 32 suggestions from an impartial review board that acts as a "highest court" for content and policy issues into practise in an effort to avoid business interests from affecting choices. The "cross-check" software for Meta will either fully or partially apply these changes.

"This will result in substantial changes to how we operate this system," Meta global affairs president Nick Clegg said in a blog post.
"These actions will improve this system to make it more effective, accountable and equitable."

"By providing extra protection to certain users selected largely according to business interests, cross-check allows content which would otherwise be removed quickly to remain up for a longer period, potentially causing harm."
"While we acknowledge that business considerations will always be inherent to the overall thrust of our activities, we will continue to refine guardrails and processes to prevent bias and error in all our review pathways and decision making structures."/stackumbrella/media/media_files/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Untitled-3-copy-2303040720.jpg)
