Sunday marked the beginning of the yearly Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in the Odisha seaside pilgrimage town of Puri. The celebration will be a two-day undertaking this year, a first starting around 1971. On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu joined the thousands of devotees participating in the yatra. Boss Clergyman Mohan Majhi-drove Odisha government has made unique game plans for her visit. The Rath Yatra, which is usually organized in a single day, will be a two-day affair this year due to some celestial arrangements.

Why Jagannath Rath Yatra Is Important In Hinduism

A significant Hindu festival called Rath Yatra is held to honor Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During the celebration, the symbols of Master Jagannath, alongside his kin Ruler Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, are put on excellent chariots and got by lovers through the roads. Over the course of about three kilometers, this procession travels from the Gundicha Temple to the Jagannath Temple. Some of the festival-related rituals will also be held on a single day, breaking with tradition.

To ensure that the annual festival runs smoothly and on time, the government of Odisha has devised elaborate plans. "All of the rituals are going off without a hitch thanks to the cooperation of all stakeholders. With the gifts of Master Jagannath, any remaining ceremonies will likewise be directed by the timetable," Puri Gatherer Siddharth Shankar Lover told news organization PTI. According to ADG (law and order) Sanjay Kumar, AI-based CCTV cameras have been installed at Badadanda, the venue of the festival, and other strategic locations.
