Air India

The nationwide lockdown will end on April 14, and we hope that everything will soon back to normal. But there is no news or announcement on what will remain open and closed when the lockdown ends. It is creating confusion, especially for the Airline industries.

All domestic and international flights are already closed until the lockdown. Recently, an announcement by the Air India to its passengers regarding bookings post lockdown came.

Senior officials of Air India said that they have stopped taking any booking requests of passengers for April month. Tickets will be available for flights after April i.e., from May onwards.

The bookings are closed since Thursday. But other Indian carriers are selling the tickets for post lockdown i.e., after April 15. IndiGo, GoAir, SpiceJet, and other carriers are some of those who are selling domestic flight tickets. However, the international flights will resume after April by these Indian carriers as well. But the operation of international flight will take place in phases and that to be as per the situations.

There is a reason to stop bookings. If passengers are less, they have to cancel the flights as taking a few numbers of passengers is not economically viable. They have to refund the money as well, which is again a loss. So, Air India is waiting for the decision to come.

Moreover, situations are very uncertain in the country. Even passengers are now not making their travel plans out of uncertainty.  A senior official said,” bookings are open, but only a few passengers are making it because of uncertainty.”

So, it is confirmed that all the business, including the airline business, is on halt. Let’s see what will be the decision of the government about post lockdown.
