Indian Cars Got Safety Rating; Know Which Car Is On The Top

Global NCAP has been testing cars in India since 2022. 6 cars were tested in 2022 and 4 cars have been tested this year, following the new protocol.

The position of the safest car in India has been held by Virtus, Slavia, Kushaq, and Taigun, and Skoda and Volkswagen get a 5-star rating. At the same time, the entry-level cars offered by Maruti Suzuki get low ratings. 

The cars which attained the lowest are S-Presso, Swift, Ignis, Wagon R, and Alto K10.

The top 5 safest cars in India as per the GNCAP are Volkswagen Virtus/ Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun/ Skoda Kushaq, and Mahindra Scorpio N. Other top 5 from old test protocols comprise Tata Punch, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Altroz, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV700.

The worst performance with 1-star adult safety rating comprised of S-Presso, WagonR, Swift, and Ignis. Also, WagonR is considered the worst-performing car.

Talking about the safety of children, the best-performing car as per the new protocol are Taigun, Kushaq, Virtus, and Slavia. All the above-mentioned have scored 42 points out of 49 in child safety.

Mahindra Scorpio N gets a 3-star safety rating having 28.93 points. Talking about the old protocol, the car with the biggest child safety rating consists of the XUV700, Thar, Tata Punch, Honda City 4th-gen, XUV300, and Tigor EV. 

The highest total points regarding India’s safest cars as per the new protocols are Virtus/ Slavia, Taigun, Kushaq, and Scorpio N. Taling about the old protocols, the ones having the total score were XUV700, Punch, XUV300, Thar, City 4th Gen, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
