India’s desire to start the process of finding an ideal combination for the T20 World Cup 2024 suffered a minor dent as their first match against South Africa was abandoned without a ball being bowled after persistent rain here on Sunday.
Team India would have liked to make a head start to their search for a perfect blend at Kingsmead but rain put paid to those hopes temporarily.
India Vs Sa Match Abandoned Due To Rain
The first T20I between Suryakumar Yadav-led India and Aiden Markram’s South Africa at Durban’s Kingsmead was called off due to rain in the host city on Sunday. The rains werr so heavy that even the toss was hot held for the game. With the core of the team remaining the same as the previous series against Australia the members of the team will be aware of what their roles in their side would be.
Even Toss Didn’t Take Place
In point of fact, there was no toss at all. Presently, the ‘Men dressed in Blue’ are left with only five T20Is – two more against the Proteas and three games against Afghanistan at home in January – in front of the following year’s show-stopper in the West Indies and the USA.
India T20I Series Before World Cup
This is the only series they will play, along with a three-match T20I series with Afghanistan in January, before going to the T20 World Cup. That gives them six matches to prepare before the extravaganza.Skipper Suryakumar Yadav though has started the Australia series well tapered off as the series went on. He will be hoping to get back into runs in the series.
