Why Did Gambhir Call Kohli ‘Immature’ During Ind vs SA Test?

Ind Vs SA 3rd Day Test brought criticism for test skipper Virat Kohli and the first among them is former cricketer Gautam Gambhir. He said that Kohli’s behavior on the field was really immature and this is not how an international captain should behave.

What Made Gambhir Said Those Words For Virat Kohli?

His words were in response to what happened during the game when the third umpire gave a clean chit to South African skipper Dean Elgar. He was LBW out by the Ashwin during the 21st over but the decision was reviewed later through DRS.

The result came in favor of Elgar and he was given not out. This pissed off the Indian players and brought different reactions from them. KL Rahul was heard saying “ Whole country playing against XI guys.”

R.Ashwin targeted the South African broadcasting channel SuperSport saying “ You should find better ways to win.”

But at the end of the day, it was Virat Kohli’s angry reaction that caught Gambhir’s attention. He went close to the stumps and shout “ Focus on your team as well and not just the opposition, trying to catch people all the time.”

At the end of the third test of Ind vs SA, Gautam Gambhir had something to say over it. He had a conversation with Star Sports where he said a few words for Kohli. He said Kohli is really immature and what he did today was unexpected from a captain who plays at the international level.

‘No budding cricketers would want to see this kind of a reaction especially from the Indian captain,’ said Gambhir further. Even though he puts a lot of effort into the game such a reaction was unacceptable.

He could not be an idol for the young generation of cricketers said Gambhir. It didn’t end there; he also compared Dean Elgar and Kohli saying that he did not reach in that manner.

At last, he gave a word of advice to coach Rahul Dravid. Gambhir wanted him to talk to Kohli on this matter.
