“I was told the side effects…”,says Hugh Jackman While Talking About Steroid Use to Build Wolverine’s Body

Hugh Jackman

In an interview, Hugh Jackman, the actor who played X-Men’s Wolverine, emphatically stated that he never used steroids to get into shape for the role. He went on to say that he was aware of the damaging effects of steroids, so he did not even consider it as an option.

Hugh Jackman has adamantly denied using steroids to beef up for any of his on-screen superhero roles. He will soon be putting on the claws again for the highly anticipated Deadpool 3, co-starring his good pal Ryan Reynolds. Jackman is currently appearing on Broadway in The Music Man and will be taking a final bow on January 15, 2023 before he gets back into Wolverine shape.

Hugh Jackman made his Hollywood debut as Logan in X-Men (2000), which featured Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Famke Janssen and Ian McKellen. He has since reprised the role in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), X-Men: First Class (2011), The Wolverine (2011), X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Logan (2017).

Chris Wallace asked Hugh in the interview if he had taken any steroids to prepare for his role as Wolverine and the actor said no. He said he loved his job and the character too much to risk any side effects of taking steroids. He said he stuck to the old school way, which meant eating a lot of chickens, though he expressed his regret of doing so to vegetarians, vegans, and chickens alike.

Hugh Jackman had been declining requests to reprise his role as Wolverine for several years, until he got a feeling in his gut telling him to come back. He even mentioned that having the opportunity to punch Ryan Reynolds every day was an added bonus. The production for Deadpool 3 is anticipated to begin at the beginning of this year, with the movie likely to be released sometime in 2022.
