Michael Chiang has been appointed by Foxconn in Taiwan to take over the leadership of the iPhone assembly division from Wang Charng-yang, according to Bloomberg News. Foxconn and Apple have declined to comment on the matter.

The Zhengzhou facility in China, which is the primary production center for Apple's iPhones, has had a difficult year with a COVID-19 outbreak and worker unrest over payment issues. However, the plant had almost returned to full production in December with shipments reaching 90 percent of the initial plans, as reported by Reuters in January.
