The 57-year-old Chetan Sharma was appointed as the chairman of the selection committee in September 2016, replacing Sandeep Patil. He had a tenure of almost two-and-a-half years and had overseen the team's selection in various tournaments, including the 2017 Champions Trophy, the 2018 Asia Cup, and the 2019 World Cup.

Chetan Sharma Steps Down

The decision to step down was taken after the channel aired a sting operation on Sunday evening, which had Chetan Sharma talking about the use of the banned substance by players. He was also heard making a strange comment that players need to take injections in order to enhance their fitness.

The BCCI has been left with little choice but to accept Chetan Sharma's resignation. The board is now expected to name his successor in due course and will be hoping that the new selection committee will help India to regain its lost glory. Chetan Sharma recently got into trouble as a video got leaked in which he was seen trash-talking about Virat Kohli. He further said that he removed Kohli from the captaincy.
