However, a Mumbai-based startup, PMV Electric, is now ready to shake up the market with something far more radical the PMV EaS-E.

The PMV EaS-E has officially launched as India’s cheapest electric car, with the base model priced at ₹4.79 lakh. It now holds the title of the country’s most affordable EV and the launch has already generated strong interest among budget-conscious urban buyers. The EaS-E aims to make electric mobility more accessible in the entry-level segment.

The PMV EaS-E is not meant to compete with conventional hatchbacks like the Tiago EV in terms of size or performance. Instead it is a compact micro electric car, designed mainly for daily city commuting. Dimension-wise the EaS-E measures 2,915 mm in length 1,157 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height. It is expected to come with a wheelbase of 2,087 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm, which should be sufficient for city speed breakers and uneven roads. The compact size also means easier manoeuvrability for new drivers and elderly users.

Despite its low expected price PMV Electric is promising a practical driving range. The PMV EaS-E is said to offer a range of 120 km to 200 km on a single charge depending on the variant selected. The company plans to offer the car in three different variants, giving buyers the flexibility to choose according to their daily travel needs and budget.

For charging the car will come with a 3 kW AC charger which can fully charge the battery in under 4 hours. This makes home charging convenient especially for users who plan to use the car for short daily commutes such as office travel school runs.
