Just before the Ashes series 2021-22, the Australian Cricket Team and fans have received shocking news. Captain Tim Paine announced their resignation from the post for the good of his career, family, and sports industry. The 36-years old Australian international cricketer got emotional over his decision but the reason behind it shocked everyone.

Why Did Tim Paine Resign?

A former employee of Cricket Tasmania accused Tim of sending sexually explicit images during the 2017-18 Ashes series. However, he came out clear during an investigation where no breach of code of conduct was identified then. But the matter could not stay away from the limelight for so long and Tim was aware of the same.

Sexting Scandal 2017: Tim Paine Apologizes For His Actions

The cricketer has expressed his regret for the actions and apologized for hurting his family, wife, and female co-worker. He has also apologized to fans and the sports industry for causing damage to their reputation.

 “I do not want this to become an unwelcome disruption to the team ahead of what is a huge Ashes Series, “ said Paine. Australian cricket team captain is also thankful for the support he got from teammates and family during the course.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has accepted the resignation of Tim Paine but also said “we do not condone this type of language of behavior”.

Who Will Replace Tim Paine In Ashes Series 2021?

Ashes Series 2021-22 will be played next month on 8th December. As per the sources, Vice Captain Pat Cummins may take his place for the series. CA board has not confirmed this new role by Pat but if they do then Pat will be the 47th captain of Australia’s Men’s Test Team.
