What is OpenAI’s ChatGPT?

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is far and away above the competition when it comes to personal AI, specifically generative AI. This has also forced companies like Apple and even Google to rethink their AI capabilities. According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple appears to be working on integrating natural language generation capability into Siri.

An artificial intelligence chatbot named ChatGPT which is created by OpenAI and it was released in November 2022. It is built on top of the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 families of large language models of OpenAI and has been improved (a method of transfer learning) using both supervised and reinforcement learning strategies.

An AI service with natural language generation can create human-like content. Right now, Apple is said to be testing the more capable Siri on Apple TVs running on tvOS 16.4 beta and is trained to generate jokes and nothing else. In the coming days, we can expect Siri with natural language generation into devices such as iPhones, Macs and iPads.

What are the Benefits?

Again, depending on the device, Apple might put limits on Siri’s ability to provide a seamless user experience.

Apple’s improved Siri will offer improved speech output, which is supposed to sound more “human” than before, in comparison to ChatGPT or GPT-4, which may generate text. Moreover, it has been suggested that Apple may restrict this functionality to Siri, and that it may not be as powerful as OpenAI’s GPT-4. As of right now, Apple has not provided any updates on the distribution of this functionality. At its upcoming WWDC 2023 developers conference, Apple is expected to present the same, though.
