Apple’s upcoming headset is set to combine both augmented and virtual reality, and is anticipated to be showcased at the company’s Spring event this year. The device is said to be sold at a price point of $3,000, which is approximately ₹2,45,000.

According to Bloomberg’s report, the steep cost is due to its incorporation of high-resolution displays, 10+ cameras, sensors for tracking the user’s gaze, and a M2 processor and a separate chip for handling both AR and VR visuals.

The device could be released in the future and will compete with the Meta VR headset, which had a price tag of $1,500 when it launched in 2022. Apple has registered two product names for the headset- “Reality Pro” and “Reality One,” with the latter potentially being the more cost-effective option. Additionally, they have filed a trademark for the “Reality Processor,” which could be the name of the dedicated chip. The headset will have displays to create a virtual reality environment and pass-through cameras to simulate augmented reality. Ultimately, the company hopes to replace the iPhone by integrating its main features into the AR glasses.
