Antonio Banderas, who played Zorro in the films The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro, has suggested that Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, should portray Zorro in a future reboot of the character.
Banderas cited Holland’s energy and spark as reasons for the suggestion, having previously worked with him on the film Uncharted.
Banderas also expressed a willingness to return to the role of Zorro for one final time, but only in order to pass the mantle on to a new actor, similar to how Anthony Hopkins’ character Don Diego de la Vega did in The Mask of Zorro. Read his statement.

“Yes, I would consider it. Why not? I think I mentioned something like that in one of the interviews today. I said that if they make a new Zorro movie,
“I would be willing to do what Anthony Hopkins did in the first film and pass the torch to someone else,” Banderas confirmed.

In the past, Banderas has also spoken about the possibility of returning as Zorro. In an interview with USA Today earlier this year, he mentioned that Quentin Tarantino had approached him in 2020 about the possibility of a Django and Zorro crossover movie.
Antonio Banderas expressed excitement about the potential collaboration with Tarantino and Jamie Foxx, saying, “He just came up to me and I was like: ‘In your hands? Yeah, man!’ Because Quentin just has the nature to do those types of movies and give them quality.”
“We’ve never worked together, but it would be great because of him, because of Jamie Foxx, and because of [playing] Zorro again when he’s a little bit older. It would be fantastic and funny and crazy.”
In the meantime, fans of Banderas’ swashbuckling adventures can look forward to the release of the Puss in Boots sequel, The Last Wish, which is set to be released this Christmas.
