In an interview with Mashable India, Abhay Deol, who is set to appear in the Netflix series Trail By Fire, opened up about the pressure of coming from a film family and how it has affected him since the success of his 2009 hit Dev D. He confessed that he disliked the idea of fame and resorted to drinking excessively after the success of the movie.

He went on to mention how he was questioned in school due to his family’s connections with the film industry, saying: “I just didn’t like that. I saw a lot of people around family who I knew were there to gain benefits, they weren’t friends.”

Abhay Deol said he was still in the mindset of his Dev D character for a year after completing the film. He admitted he was not as extreme as Dev, not wearing tattered clothes or drinking every day, but he made some good friends and remembers some things from that time in his life, describing it as being a daze.
In Trial By Fire, Abhay will be featured in a story based on the Uphaar Cinema fire that occurred in 1997. The screenplay for the movie was penned by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.
