75% Of 4.5 Lakh TCS Workforce To Permanently Work From Home After Corona Pandemic Ends

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT service firm, is going to reject its 20-year-old operating model because of the novel Coronavirus Pandemic. TCS will ask a massive majority of 75% of its 4.48 lakh employees globally to work for home (WFH). It is because the new model which is known for 25/25 will need no much office space than occupied today.

TCS COO NG Subramaniam said in the report,

“We don’t believe that we need more than 25% of our workforce at our facilities in order to be 100% productive.”

The company added this is not a model that will TCS adopted after the pandemic but something that we applied to reach by 2025.

Twenty percent of TCS employees worked from home before lockdown. Now 90 percent of the TCS employees work from home through its Secure Borderless WorkSpaces (SBWS) operating model due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

CEO and MD Rajesh Gopinathan was clear that after lockdown work from home will continue for the majority of the workforce.

He said,

“It helps organizations become more resilient because the fully distributed nature of this model is inherently less risky and better suited for business continuity and agility.”
