The director of every child’s favorite cartoon ‘Tom and Jerry’ has died on Thursday night at his penthouse in Prague. Petr Himmel, his Czech publisher, said about his death to the Associated Press. Also, he said to the Associated press that Oscar-winning illustrator died ‘unexpectedly’. Eugene Merrill Deitch, whose nickname was Gene was famous for creating animated cartoons such as Tom Terrific, Munro, Popeye, as well as Nudnik.

He worked as a draftsman for North America Aviation after completing his UG. However, after a few years, he drafted for the military and entering pilot training. Also, in 1964 he was nominated for the same award twice for How to Avoid Friendship and Here’s Nundnik. Gene was an audio engineer and early supporter for Connie Converse in the 1950s.
