Filmmakers never leave any stone untouched when it comes to presenting unique stories and offering an endless amount of entertainment to the audience. They have stories for each genre whether horror, comedy, thriller, romance, or inspiration. But, one doesn’t have to stick with 3-hour long movies anymore.

Short-films are the main focus of filmmakers nowadays as they know the larger portion of the audience is time-bounded; however, these movies go overlooked as they are not theatrically released.

Positive

Bollywood actor and producer Farhan Akhtar’s 2007 movie Positive is a unique short-film made under the series of AIDS JaaGo. The story cast prominent faces of Bollywood in the lead roles. Boman Irani as Mr. Soni and Shabana Azmi as Mrs. Soni were seen in the movie that highlights the concept of AIDS.

The movie is about a family of three, where the lead character Mr. Soni has AIDs and his son Abhijit struggles to comfort his father. It’s a must-watch film as AIDs patients are often neglected and abandoned by the families.

Young boy, Abhijit, in the movie forgives his father and supports him till the last stage of his father’s life. Positive was also featured in Toronto International Film Festival.

Bypass

Irrfan Khan was best known for bringing extraordinary in ordinary roles and one of the finest actors of Bollywood. Another versatile actor who can pull off any role is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The short-film Bypass features these two gems of Bollywood and the story by Amit Kumar is the icing on the cake.

This 17 minutes story is about two friends involved in killing and looting the passersby of the Bypass road. But Irrfan’s role brings a twist to the story.

3 Shades

Vivek Joshi’s 3 Shades is a dark reality of child beggars on the street who survive either on the sympathy of a passerby or by stealing money for food. He succeeds in showing all the hardships of their life in just 5 minutes with powerful dialogues.

The movie ends with a message that each one of us needs to hear.

Ambani The Investor

Don’t get tricked by the name, the movie isn’t about the life of Ambani instead it’s about a poor boy who aims big but refuses to beg to make them come true.

The movie shows his brilliant investing skills and how he made Rs 138 in a day with just Rs 5 in his pocket. It’s an 18-minute award-winning short-film produced by Vinod Nag.

Bombay Mirror

Even though our country is secular, communalism had never faded away from the minds of some people.

Bombay Mirror is a reflection of this side of people showing the communal violence in the society. The movie features Vijay Maurya and Rajkumar Rao.

Kriti

Kriti starring Neha Sharma, Manoj Bajpayee, and Radhika Apte is a psychological thriller movie dubbed as a dark film.

The lead male actor Manoj has a psychological disorder and his girlfriend has agoraphobia. The story revolves around Manoj who struggles to conquer his fear.

That Day After Everyday

Eve teasing is a common form of sexual harassment in India which needs to be addressed seriously. But the multi-faced society only takes it seriously to a point where it fulfills their interest. How a girl or women go through and deal with eve-teasing is shown in this Anurag Kashyap’s short-film.

The movie is approx half an hour long and features Geetanjali Thapa, Radhika Apte, and Sandhya Mridul.
