  • The first Hindi Day in the world was organized on 10 January 1974 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. 122 representatives from 30 countries participated in this conference.
  • The main objective of this conference was to spread Hindi throughout the world.
  • After organizing Hindi Day in Nagpur, the Indian Embassy of the European country Norway was the first to celebrate World Hindi Diwas.
  •  The Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, announced in the year 2006 that World Hindi Day would be celebrated every year on 10 January. Since then we celebrate World Hindi Day with great pomp.
