The Taliban Afghanistan conflict began with 9/11 when the leader of Al-Qaeda Osama Bin Laden attacked the U.S. Following which the U.S bombs 3 major areas Jalalabad, Kabul, and Kandahar of Afghanistan, and demanded the handover of Bin Laden.

This was just the beginning of the Afghanistan crisis. More than 4000 troops were sent by the US to expel the Taliban from the country that was protecting Laden. Troops gradually increased by the year 2011 during which NATO had conducted several combat operations.

It led to more than one lakh civilian casualties and thousands of US soldiers have either died or injured. This is the reason why the Taliban are attacking Afghanistan.

To end this war of blood both parties had signed a deal in 2020 aiming to bring peace to Afghanistan. As per the deal, US forces agreed to withdraw if the Taliban maintain peace within the territory.

The deal comes to end exactly after 20 years of 9/11 on 11 September 2021. As soon as the troops stepped back, Taliban commanders have started behaving brutally, killing and detaining citizens including women and children.

This has again raised the fear of Afghanistan becoming a terror base. On the other hand, the Taliban denied it saying we only want to make an Islamic government.

Not just the life of Afghanis but those serving for US and UK armies during the Afghanistan crisis secretly are in danger. Habibul Rahaman, a translator, has expressed the tough situations in the country. They fear for their life and struggle for relocation.

And the recent announcement by UK government that allows relocation facilities to previous staff members is the reason. Rahaman does not get the offer of relocation as he is dismissed from the service.

During an interview with VICE, he said “ They will kill us.”

An interpreter from Afghan, Abdullah, has also thrown light on the conditions. And not just these two, there are hundreds of interpreters who served the US but now feel betrayed after its decision to withdraw.

The reason why they fear getting killed is so obvious after the Taliban targeted lawmakers, ministers, and even killed the head of the media information center earlier this month.

The present conditions and withdrawal of the US are forcing the world to conclude that the Taliban will capture Afghanistan and make it a pariah state.
