During a pitch on the second episode of Shark Tank India Season 2, one of the sharks, Anupam Mittal, became emotional while listening to the presentation by Abhishek Baheti, the founder of a children’s smartwatch brand. The watch, which offers several useful features, is designed primarily to keep kids safe when they are not with their parents. Baheti shared the story of how he developed the product during his pitch to the sharks.

Anupam Mittal’s emotional response to the pitch and the safety features of the children’s smartwatch prompted him to ask Abhishek why a similar product wasn’t developed for elderly individuals who may also need assistance in similar situations. The founder of Shaadi.com then shared a personal story, explaining that he had lost his maternal grandmother in a fire. This moved everyone on the show.

Anupam Mittal became emotional as he spoke about the loss of his grandmother in a fire, saying “I remember 2 years back my grandmother perished in a fire. This thing still makes me think. I keep wondering how long she might have cried for help. It breaks my heart everytime I think about it. So why not for old people as well.” Tears filled his eyes and his voice choked with emotion as he spoke. The other sharks were also visibly moved by his words.

After the pitch, Peyush, Aman, and Namita declined to invest in the children’s smartwatch, but Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh (CEO and founder of Sugar Cosmetics) made an offer of 1 crore rupees (approximately $137,000) for 10% equity and 1 crore rupees in debt with a 15% interest rate (valuing the company at 10 crore rupees, or approximately $1.4 million). The initial asking price for the product was 2 crore rupees for 5% equity.Despite not getting the full amount he asked for, Abhishek accepted the offer and referred to himself as a “dark horse.”
