Hartalika Teej is considered a very important festival for married women. Women observe this fast on this day for the long life of their spouse, prosperity and happiness of married life. According to the Panchang, the fast of Hartalika Teej is observed on Shukla Paksha Tritiya of Bhadrapada month. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on this day. This year Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on 26 August.
On the day of Hartalika Teej, devotees worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva with great devotion, so that they get the desired boon. This fast is considered very strict, as it is kept without water. Women fasting for the first time should mentally prepare themselves to follow all the rules and rituals with full devotion.

The Tritiya Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha will be from 12:34 pm on August 25 to 01:54 pm on August 26. Hence, according to the Udaya Tithi, the festival of Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on August 26.

Religious significance of Hartalika Teej fast

Teej fast is observed on the Tritiya Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. This fast is especially observed by Saubhagyavati (Suhagin) women, but unmarried girls also observe it to get a good groom. The main purpose of this fast is that married women observe the fast to wish for the long life, good health and marital happiness of their husbands.
Unmarried girls observe this fast to get a suitable life partner. On this day, women observe Nirjala fast (without food and water) and stay awake all night and worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.

- Teej fast is Nirjala. Take a bath in the morning without saying anything. After this, with the help of your husband, bathe Lord Shiva with Gangajal, curd, milk, honey etc.
- After this, offer him flowers, Belpatra, Dhatura-Bhang etc. After this, worship Goddess Parvati again along with Shankar ji.
- In the evening, decorate the garland with new clothes, flowers and leaves and then worship Shiva-Parvati. Although nowadays clay Gauri-Parvati are available in the market, but if you want, make Gauri-Shankar from clay yourself and worship them.
- Offer all the items of Suhaag to Goddess Gauri in the puja and ask for blessings from her for the protection of your Suhaag and children.
- After this, chant this mantra - Katyayini Mahamaye Mahayoginidhishwari Nand-Gopsutan Devi Patim Me Kuru Te Namah. After this, perform Aarti and recite.
