You might be aware of the WhatsApp group. Even, every person who uses WhatsApp is in one or more than one WhatsApp group. Each group has a specific purpose- some are created by friends for fun and some by colleagues for office purposes.

Also, some groups last long and others are for the short term. The group which is specifically designed for the short term is left idle when the purpose of making a group is fulfilled. It is the nature of some users to leave the group soon after the purpose is fulfilled.
At the same time, some users do not remember such groups after some time. It is because the groups don’t bother them at all.
Idle Groups Occupies Storage
You might be wondering when you come to know that the idle groups take a lot of your storage and also the RAM of your phone. For the sake of WhatsApp, there are thousands and millions of unused WhatsApp groups which are taking up an ample of server storage.
Now, the Meta-owned instant messaging app has finally a solution to the problem. This new feature will reduce the stress of eliminating idle WhatsApp groups or we can say short-term groups easily after using them.

The new feature will make the process swifter to delete idle WhatsApp groups as well as chats.
WhatsApp has rolled out a feature known as disappearing messages. The feature can delete chats on its own after a given interval of time. WhatsApp plans to go further with the feature beyond the chats.
The Expiring Groups
A new feature is going to roll out for disappearing WhatsApp Groups also. But, the feature is under development till now. The working of the feature is very simple to easy. The feature will be officially named Expiring groups.
As the name suggests, the feature will permit users to keep an expiring date for WhatsApp groups. Once the date is surpassed, the group is anticipated to delete automatically.

However, there is some contradiction while setting the expiry date for the group. A notification is popped up which informs that the group will not completely delete. Instead of this, the user will delete the chat of that particular group.

The new feature has not been rolled out yet and is to come in the near future. Now, we have to see how effective the feature is going to be and also, what happens if people do not accept to delete the group messages.
