Virat Kohli starts 2023 with style as he smashed a ton in the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka. King Kohli has once again given proof of his mastery in cricket. The cricketer smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers in the first inning of the match.

Virat Kohli has scored 113 off 87 balls that took India to a milestone of 373 runs. The credit goes to the King of cricket as his performance in the match was remarkable. Kohli has scored his 45th ODI century against Sri Lanka in Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

The famine of the last century feels like a long time ago. For the first time in more than three years, Virat Kohli has scored back-to-back hundreds in ODI cricket, proving that he is very much alive and well. In addition to pushing India’s total well past 350 on Tuesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Kohli reached two personal milestones, two of which are related to batting legend and India’s greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

He has one T20I tonne and 27 tonnes in Tests. Kohli quickly reached the triple-figure mark in front of the boisterous crowd at the Assam venue after hitting 10 fours and one six. In the 49th over, Kohli was out for 113 runs off 87 balls (12 fours and 1 six). In the end, India scored 373/7 in 50 overs, with Kohli leading the way.

Virat Kohli now has 20 ODI tonnes at home after acquiring the tonne. He now has the same number of centuries in the format at home as batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar, who also holds the record with 20 centuries.

Virat achieved 20 tonnes at home in in 99 innings whereas Sachin needed 160. In addition to these two, Hashim Amla of South Africa (14 tonnes in 69 innings in South Africa) and Ricky Ponting of Australia (14 tonnes in 151 innings in Australia) are also on the list for the most ODI tonnes at home. While routing towards his 73rd international century, Kohli set a record for the quickest 12500 ODI runs in 257 innings. Currently, Kohli is four tonnes short of Sachin’s 49-ODI record.
