Union Budget 2026: The Union Budget is presented every year. This time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the country's budget on February 1st. This will be the second budget of the Modi government's third term and Nirmala Sitharaman's ninth consecutive budget presentation, including an interim budget. Budget to be presented on a Sunday for the first time

Typically, the budget session is held in two parts. The Union Budget 2026 for the financial year 2026-27 will be presented in Parliament on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM. This will be the first time in India's history that the Union Budget will be presented on a Sunday.

Since 2017, following a change initiated by the late Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the Union Budget has been presented on February 1st every year, except for the interim budget.

The Budget Session 2026 is expected to be held in two phases:

First phase: January 28 to February 13, 2026
Second phase: March 9 to April 2, 2026

When will the Budget Session begin?

The BudgetSession will begin with an address by President Droupadi Murmu. According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Budget Session will begin on January 28, 2026, and will continue until April 2, 2026. The first phase will conclude on February 13, 2026, and Parliament will reconvene on March 9, 2026.
