Uber Takes Tata Motors Help to Launch EV Segment Cars in India!! See Details…

Uber-Tata New Deal

On Monday, Tata Motors announced that it would give Uber 25,000 XPRES-T electric car units as part of one of the biggest transactions in the history of green mobility. The cab giant will use the electric sedans in its premium category service in accordance with a memorandum of agreement (MoU) signed by the two parties, the firms stated in a joint statement.

According to the company, the electric fleet would run in the cities:

Delhi-NCR
Mumbai
Kolkata
Chennai
Hyderabad
Bangalore
Ahmedabad

The cab service company shared an article on the deal with Tata Motors saying “We are very happy to work with industry partners that are leading the change. We are focused on finding new, innovative, and affordable ways to help drivers and fleets go electric and will lean in on industry partnerships across EV manufacturers, Fleet, and EV infra partners among others to advance EV transition.”

Uber EV Segment in India

Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh said the Taxi service company is effectively going to bring sustainable and shared mobility to India. The new tie-up between Uber and TATA will bring a great change in the automobile industry.

The XPRES-T electric sedan comes with two range options:

  1. 315 kilometers
  2. 277 kilometers

The EV cars are packed with high-density battery packs of:

  • 26kWh; Charging speed- (0-80% in 59 minutes)
  • 25.5kWh; Charging speed- (0-80% in 110 minutes)

The TATA-powered taxi cars (XPRES-T) will also feature:

  • Dual airbags
  • Single-speed automatic transmission
  • zero-tail pipe emission
  • Anti-Braking System (ABD) & Electronic Braking System (EBD)

Tata Motors MD on the New Deal

According to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility CEO Shailesh Chandra, “We are happy to work with Uber, India’s top ride-sharing platform,” in keeping with the company’s aim to expand sustainable transportation in the nation.
