Tennis Ace Sania Mirza Made The History After Winning The Fed Cup Heart Award

Sania Mirza became the first Indian who has won the Fed Cup Heart Award. It was for the first time, an Indian player has been nominated for the award.  Priska Medelyn Nugrorho, an Indonesian player was also nominated for the award but Sania won the award with more than 10, 0000 votes by her fans.

She Won By Whopping 10,000 Plus Votes

The voting for the nominees started on May 1 to determine the winner. Sania got around 60 per cent of the votes and won the Fed Cup competition. On winning this award, Sania said in a statement

It’s an honour to win the Fed Cup Heart Award as the first Indian. I dedicate this award to the entire country and to all my fans and thank everyone for voting for me. I hope to bring more laurels to the country in the future,” 

After four years, she has come back to the court and her comeback is commendable. In October 2018, she gave birth to a baby boy since then she had taken a break from her tennis career. But in January, she made a great comeback.

She won the title of women’s double at Hobart International beating Nadiia Kichenok. She has also made everyone proud by qualifying for the play-offs. It is also first-time when an Indian qualified for the play-offs.

She is also winning the hearts of her fan after winning the Fed Cup Heart Award by donating the winning amount to the CM’s Relief Fund. The money will be used to help fight against the coronavirus. She revealed about the donation in the statement-

“I want to donate the money that I get from this award to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as the world is going through very difficult times with the virus.”

The International Tennis Federation or ITF has started this initiative to recognize players across the world for their outstanding commitment and performance on the court.
