Telegram To Roll Out New “Disable Ads” Feature Anytime, Announces CEO Pavel Durov

In a recent announcement, the CEO and founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has confirmed that the cloud-based messaging app will show no ads in the future. Whether to see ads or not will purely be the choice of users and the company has already decided on a plan to make it a reality. Telegram’s new feature is, however, not free.

Sponsored ads or messages are part of Telegram’s one-to-many channels feature where users can join any group of their choice. It is available only for groups with more than 1000 subscribers. The limit of ads is kept within 160 characters and the topics so chosen are solely based on the type of group rather than the user’s behavior.

But now when Telegram’s new feature will be publicly available, it will affect users, creators, and advertisers. Both users and creators can hide the ads from their settings at an annual fee. The subscription fee is however not decided yet but it will be kept minimum so that all users can afford the feature.

On the other side, it will not cause any loss to advertisers as well. Telegram will still allow them to plan an ad in any channel but it will be invisible to users who opt for an ads-free experience.

It is still in the process and the company will decide about the subscription service and its fee. Once everything is finalized, the new feature may launch next month.
