The Xiaomi 17 Series is slowly stepping out of China and into the global spotlight, and honestly, it’s creating the right kind of noise. With leaked renders, spec sheets, and pricing whispers floating around, Xiaomi fans finally have something solid to talk about before MWC 2026 kicks off in Barcelona.
Xiaomi has already launched the Xiaomi 17 in China in September 2025, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December. Now, company executives have confirmed what many expected, both phones are coming to select global markets very soon. No official date yet, but all signs point to an early March reveal, just before Mobile World Congress 2026.
Xiaomi 17 Series Design
From leaked renders published by NieuweMobiel, the Xiaomi 17 Series global variants look almost identical to their Chinese versions. Same camera layout, same button placement, same premium vibe. No surprises here.
But there is one small, interesting change.
The standard Xiaomi 17 is shown in a new green colour for global markets. This shade replaces the pink option available in China, and honestly, it’s a smart move. The green looks clean, premium, and very “global flagship.” Blue and black colours are also expected to stick around.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, meanwhile, will reportedly arrive in Starry Green, White, and Black. Leica Edition colours will remain exclusive, which keeps that model feeling extra special.

Xiaomi 17 Series Performance
Here’s the good news, performance is not being compromised.
The Xiaomi 17 Series global models will still be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This 3nm processor is Qualcomm’s best yet and is built for heavy gaming, AI tasks, and long-term performance stability.
So whether you buy it in China or Europe, raw power stays flagship-level. That part deserves full marks.

Xiaomi 17 Series Battery
Now comes the part I’m not thrilled about.
According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the global Xiaomi 17 will pack a 6,330mAh battery. That’s a noticeable downgrade from the massive 7,000mAh battery inside the Chinese model.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra also reportedly drops from 6,800mAh in China to 6,000mAh globally. Xiaomi hasn’t explained this yet, but it feels like a familiar story, regulations, weight concerns, or cost-cutting for international markets.
Personally, this stings a bit. Xiaomi built a reputation on big batteries, and shrinking them for global users feels unnecessary, especially at flagship prices.

Xiaomi 17 Series Pricing
Leaks suggest the global Xiaomi 17 could start at EUR 1,099 for the 512GB variant. That’s roughly ₹1.21 lakh. For comparison, the same storage version launched in China at nearly half the price.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to touch EUR 1,499 (Rs 1,60,240), keeping it in ultra-premium territory. At these prices, Xiaomi is clearly targeting Apple and Samsung head-on, but expectations will also be sky-high.
Xiaomi 17 Series Launch Timeline
Multiple reports now agree on one thing: the Xiaomi 17 Series global debut will happen just before MWC 2026, which begins on March 2 in Barcelona. Europe is likely first, with India possibly following in early March.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed dates yet, but the leaks are too consistent to ignore.
Xiaomi 17 Series seems Exciting, But Not Perfect
The Xiaomi 17 Series is shaping up to be powerful, polished, and stylish. The new green colour is a nice touch, the Snapdragon chip is top-tier, and the design still feels premium.
But smaller batteries and aggressive pricing could turn some fans away. Xiaomi is no longer playing the “value flagship” game globally, it wants to be seen as a luxury brand.
Whether users accept that shift is the real story to watch in March 2026.
