T20 World Cup 2026: Aakash Chopra Predicts India vs Australia Final on March 8

The T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7, 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has predicted which two teams will play in the final on March 8. Chopra has predicted a final between the defending champions and Australia.

The Indian team has been placed in Group A for the 2026 T20 World Cup, while Australia is in Group B. Both teams will be in the same group again in the Super 8 stage. If both teams manage to advance from the Super 8s, certainly, they will not face each other in the semi-finals.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel, "The final of the 2026 T20 World Cup could be played between India and Australia. Both are very strong teams and know how to perform under pressure."

Chopra also said that the Australian team might adopt a very aggressive batting approach in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He said, "The Australian team's batting strategy is very simple. There is only one anchor. Everyone else is a striker. Josh Inglis is the only player who is both a striker and an anchor. You can expect Cameron Green to anchor the innings, but everyone else will be ready to hit fours and sixes from the first ball."

T20 World Cup 2026: India are the defending champions

Meanwhile, the Indian team is once again considered a strong contender for the title. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team will take the field with the intention of winning the T20 World Cup title for the third time. They will enter as the defending champions, having won the title by defeating South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Indian team is very difficult to beat at home, which is why they are considered strong contenders for the title.

T20 World Cup 2026: 20 teams will participate

A total of 20 teams will participate in this year's T20 World Cup, divided into four groups. Italy has qualified for the T20 World Cup for the first time. A total of 55 matches will be played across five stadiums in India and Sri Lanka. In the group stage, each team will play four matches in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage.

The Super 8 teams will be divided into two groups. In this stage, each team will play three matches. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the knockout stage. Two semi-finals will be played, and the winners will face each other in the final. The team that wins the final will be crowned the T20 World Cup 2026 champion.
