Pandemic has not gone and Navratri is here so few changes can be expected this year too. Preparations can’t be smooth as they used to be and devotees will have to face restrictions on Navratris in several cities. One that is imposed by the Maharashtra government can make Navratri dull as it has decided to ban dandiya and Garba.
And it is not only Maharashtra, other states like Gujarat, Delhi, and UP have also announced guidelines to be followed during Navaratri. Here’s what is a ban and allowed from 7th Oct-15th Oct.
Maharashtra Restricts The Height Of Durga Idol
Besides restricting Garba and Dandiya, the state government has also put a cap on the height of Maa Durga idols. This follows for both pandal and celebrations at home. The idol of Goddess Durga for pandals cannot be more than 4 feet tall and that to be brought at home should be limited to 2 feet.
Further guidelines are:
• No cultural programmes
• Organize health awareness programs and camps for blood donation
• Restrict large gatherings in the pandal
• Give priority to online darshan
Restrictions for devotees visiting temples such as Shirdi Sai Baba, Siddhivinayak are also imposed by the government.

West Bengal Urges To Use Electronic and Social media Platform
West Bengal celebrates Navratri with utmost enthusiasm and joy than other states as it’s the most important festival there. But considering pandemics the WB government has urged people to follow covid norms. Masks, use of microphones, floor markings, and electronic media should be used.
Delhi Bans Chhat Pooja, Melas, And Rallies
Residents of Delhi will face restrictions during and after Navrarti as Chhat Puja falls on 10th November.
Gujarat Government Allows Garba With Restrictions
Garba and Dandiya are the souls of Navratri for the Gujarat people. Thus, the government has allowed these traditional events with participants no more than 400. Only vaccinated people will be allowed to participate. Night curfew is also imposed in 8 cities of Gujarat- Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Gandhinagar
Bengaluru To Allow Devotees With Invitation Cards
Those living in Bengaluru should get invitation cards from the Durga Puja organizers. They can take blessings of Maa Durga in specific timing slots. However, only 100 people will be allowed at one time. Thermal screening and sanitization are a must to enter the temples.
