The result of SSC CGL Tier I for the examination conducted in 2025, holds a crucial significance for the candidates aspiring to get the qualifications of Group B and Group C posts across ministries and departments, that was officially declared on the Commission’s website, that is: ssc.gov.in, in December 2025. Candidates were able to check their individual scores, cut off marks and shortlist status online in PDF format.
SSC CGL Tier I 2025 Cut Off Clarification & What Happened
However, following the publication of cut off marks, several aspirants raised concerns on social media and complaint forums, stating that they were marked unqualified and not passed despite of scoring above the published cut off marks. This led to confusion and uncertainty amongst the candidates. In response to this, the SSC issued an official clarification in mid of the month of January 2026, addressing the reported discrepancies.
According to the Commission, there was an error in the cut off table published in the original result write up, specifically under List III which pertains to candidates qualifying for Paper I of Tier II for posts other than JSO, that is Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade II. Despite this, the lists of shortlisted candidates in the lists of List I, List II and List III remain accurate and unchanged.
No candidate has been added or removed based on the correction. The discrepancy was strictly limited to the presented cut off figures and did not affect the actual merit list or candidates’ eligibility status for Tier II. SSC has released a revised and accurate category wise cut off table for CGL Tier I 2025, correcting the previously misreported figures. However, aspirants are reminded to rely on official releases only and check updated cut off details on the SSC portal.
Why This Clarification Matters

Cut off marks are the minimum scores candidates must achieve to be considered qualified for the next phase. When the published table appears inconsistent, it can create panic among aspirants who fear they may have missed out despite scoring well. SSC’s clarification assures candidates that the actual shortlisting process followed the correct data and only the display of cut off statistics required correction.
