SpiceJet’s Flight Expansion Amid IndiGo Cancellations: 2025

SpiceJet Ltd. is an Indian low-cost airline. It is the fourth-largest airline in India. It offers passenger as well as cargo air transport. It is widely known for making an affordable flying. SpiceJet’s flights not only operate across India but also internationally.

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., known as IndiGo, is the first largest airline in India and is the second-largest Asian airline. It is a low-cost airline. Along with India, it has a growing network internationally as well. It primarily offers passenger air transport and also provides cargo air transport services.

IndiGo's Flight Cancellations: A Major Disruption

Today, that is 6th December 2025, Indigo cancelled around thousands of flights due to various reasons, which hugely disrupted the plans of many people, causing major inconvenience to them. It is being said that at Mumbai airport, cancellation of 109 flights happened, at Delhi airport, cancellation of 106 flights occurred, at Bangalore airport, cancellation of 124 flights happened, at Hyderabad airport, cancellation of 66 flights occurred and at Pune airport, cancellation of 42 flights happened. This is a record-breaking collapse for the largest airline company since these cancellations not just happened today, but have been taking place over the past few days. Although the company claims that they will pay the reimbursement and refunds for all the cancelled flights.

Reason for cancellation:

The reason behind the cancellation of flights involved various possible factors, such as:

  • the shortage of pilots and crew members
  • the occurrence of technology glitches
  • changes caused due to the winter schedule
  • the adverse weather and climate of the cold-breezing season 
  • non-alignment with the new DGCA regulations
  • mechanical issues during pre-flight checks
  • ATC, that is, air traffic control, is also one of the reasons of causing cancellations.

IndiGo Cancellations Lead to SpiceJet

Spice Jet, being the saviour, announced a huge expansion of more flights for departing from Mumbai on 6th December. As a result of rapidly rising demands for air travelling since its the onset of the wedding season, Spice Jet brought more flights at one of the main airports of India, that is, the Mumbai airport. This was aimed at helping out the passengers, to ease out their passenger load, to make their air travel easygoing, and to improve connectivity.

Mumbai is one of India’s busiest aviation hubs, which is why SpiceJet has added many new flights from Mumbai to meet the high travel demands.

  • For the National Capital Region, six flights have been added from the Spice Jet airline.
  • For international travelling, like Mumbai to Dubai, two flights have been added from the Spice Jet airline.

  • For Mumbai to Goa, one night flight have been added from the SpiceJet airline.
