Skoda’s electrification strategy: what’s the plan?
The company unveiled clay models for four brand-new electric vehicles on Tuesday. The models range from a 4.1-meter-tall SUV to a 4.9-meter-tall MPV, a compact SUV, and a Combi Wagon.
Major Points Of Plan
- Skoda announced the Let’s Explore plan at its headquarters in Mlada Boleslav.
- Among the all-electric models will be the “Small,” a small SUV, the new Elroq SUV, which will be an electric replacement for the Karoq, a spacious “Combi” estate, most likely based on the Octavia, and a seven-seat SUV called “Space.”
- Skoda Auto informed that the Enyaq family, excluding these four vehicles, will be updated by 2025. The automaker said that the new Modern Solid design language will be used on this line of SUVs.
- However, it reaffirmed that during the transformation phase, automobiles with modern, highly efficient internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains will continue to be an important mainstay.
Wide range of Skoda EVs from “Small” to “Space”
Planned for 2024, the first upcoming BEV vehicle will be the “Compact” SUV, which will officially be called Elroq. Measuring around 4.50 meters in length and boasting a similar combination of compact dimensions, and a spacious and practical interior, the Elroq will be the all-electric successor to the Skoda Karoq. It will further expand the Czech brand’s model portfolio in the SUV segment.
Small Will Be The Entry Level Model
The working name for the upcoming entry-level model will be “Small,” and it will be a subcompact car that will cost around €25,000 and make electric mobility affordable. The model will be created at a Volkswagen Gathering Plant in Spain and presented in 2025. It will have a capacity that is comparable to that of the Scala for luggage at approximately 4.10 meters.
In 2025, the Enyaq and Enyaq Car will get an extensive update and take on the new Present day Strong plan language first displayed on the Vision 7S. The Enyaq iV models were the principal Skoda vehicles to be founded on the Volkswagen Gathering’s Particular Zap Stage (MEB) and as such have been significant in the pristine’s period of electric versatility starting around 2020 (Enyaq Car beginning around 2022).
Combi Will Play a Key Role In All Models!
The “Combi” will play a key role among the four new models. This approximately 4.70-meter-long model will be the brand’s first all-electric estate car, taking the strengths of this particularly popular and successful Skoda body style into the electric age. The “Combi” estate BEV will be introduced in 2026.
The largest of Skoda’s future BEVs will be the “Space” – the production version of the Vision 7S concept. It will be around 4.90 meters long and round off the upper end of the portfolio.
