Sanju Samson wants to separate from his current team Rajasthan Royals. There are reports that he talked to the franchise about this only after the end of IPL 2025. Samson wants to release or trade himself. Sanju is the player who has played the most matches and scored the most runs for the Royals in IPL history. He has asked the franchise to release him so that he can play with a new team in the next season.
In such a situation, the question is arising as to which team can trade Sanju. In this, the name of Chennai Super Kings has emerged. CSK is ready to trade Samson. There are reports that Sanju has also recently met the CSK team management and head coach Stephen Fleming in America.

If RR decides to release Sanju Samson, they can either trade him to another franchise or send him to the auction. As per the IPL contract, the final decision in such cases rests with the franchise. As far as the trade is concerned, it can be a player swap or a completely cash deal. If Rajasthan trades Samson to Chennai, it can ask for 2 players. However, it is not clear who these two players will be.
Other Teams in the Race for Sanju Samson
The 30-year-old Sanju Samson first played for RR for three seasons from IPL 2013 to 2015 and then joined the team again in 2018 after spending two years at Delhi Daredevils. He was appointed captain in 2021 and in 2022, he led RR to the IPL final for the first time since winning the inaugural edition in 2008.
However, two of their key players - Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal, who won the Orange and Purple Caps in 2022 - were released ahead of the 2025 mega auction.
RR have two months to decide on Samson before the IPL's retention deadline in November. The report further states, 'According to experts, if both Rajasthan and Chennai do not reach an agreement, Samson is very likely to join the auction at this point.'
