Rohit Sharma and His Team Arrive at PM Narendra Modi's Residence with The T20 World Cup Trophy

Our champions Have finally come home. Departing from Barbados after Hurricane Beryl, Rohit Sharma's Team India arrived in New Delhi on Thursday. Rohit and his team have returned home after India's title-winning campaign at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean. Ending the long wait for the ICC title, Rohit's Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

The Indian team left for Delhi yesterday on a charter flight from the Grantley Adams International Airport. The Indian team members were stranded for three days in Barbados due to the category-four storm. Air India's special charter flight, named after the winning team, Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC), took off from the Caribbean island at 4:50 am local time and landed in the national capital at around 6:20 am (IST) today.

BCCI arrangements

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arranged the charter flight for the Indian team, support staff, players' families, board officials, and members of the traveling media contingent after the Indian team's departure was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla revealed that Indian journalists, stranded in Barbados, boarded the same flight along with BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah.

Team India's meeting with PM Narendra Modi

After being given a hero's welcome, Rohit's Team India reached ITC Maurya, where Rishabh Pant carried the trophy inside. They will next meet PM Narendra Modi at his residence at 11 am. After attending a breakfast session with Modi, the team will leave for Mumbai. In the evening, there will be a roadshow on an open bus from Nariman Point. After the Vijay Bus Parade, a felicitation ceremony will be organized at the Wankhede Stadium.
